Women’s Cup and Senior Cup Semi-Final Draws

Women’s Cup and Senior Cup Semi-Final Draws

Last Year’s Finalists Meet Again in the Final Four

Last season’s BBC Essex Women’s Cup finalists, Billericay Town and AFC Basildon, will meet again in the Semi-Finals of the 2019/20 competition following the draw which was broadcast alongside the Senior Cup semis on Wednesday 22nd January.

Meanwhile, in the weather-affected Senior Cup, Billericay Town or Grays Athletic will find out next week who gets to host Waltham Abbey and face-off for a place in the final on Tuesday 31st March at Colchester United FC’s JobServe Community Stadium. Dagenham & Redbridge or Tilbury will eventually entertain Concord Rangers or Chelmsford City.

The previous Women’s Cup final between Essex’s two highest-ranked female clubs generated a lot of interest, attracting a record crowd of 578 back in April. Current holders Billericay were winners by three goals to one at Harlow Ladies in the last round, while AFC Basildon met their own Development Team in the Quarter-Finals and won comfortably.

Now the two FA Women's National League sides meet to see who’ll face Eastern Region Women’s League club Bowers & Pitsea or the last remaining Essex County Women’s League team, Collier Row Tigers, who’ll compete in the other semi-final. Bowers edged-out Leigh Ramblers by the odd goal in seven, while Tigers overcame Hutton 7-4 in a very entertaining match.

The draw for the BBC Essex Senior Cup Semi-Finals was a little later than usual due to disruption caused by waterlogged and frozen pitches. Billericay and Grays now go head-to-head next Tuesday (28th January) and the winners will face Waltham Abbey, the only side definitely through so far after winning 5-1 at home to Maldon & Tiptree.

Dagenham & Redbridge and Tilbury also face each other on Tuesday 28th, while Concord and Chelmsford have to wait until Tuesday 4th February to complete their tie. BBC Essex presenter Dave Monk pulled out the home clubs during both draws, while Bowers & Pitsea Ladies Manager, Terry Harrison, was responsible for the away sides.

The Women’s Cup ties are scheduled to take place on Sunday 16th February, with the Senior Cup matches due for early February. Competition details can be found in the 'Cups & Competitions' menu above, by following @EssexCountyFA on Twitter and by searching for ‘EssexFootball’ on Facebook.
