Heybridge Swifts will host Colchester United while Southend United travel to Billericay Town as the draw for the Third Round of the BBC Essex Senior Cup was broadcast live from the station’s Chelmsford studios on Wednesday 25th September.

At this stage, Essex’s professional clubs from the Football League joined the remaining teams from the Essex Senior and Eastern Senior Leagues, as well as the County’s National and Isthmian League teams. Heybridge are managed by U’s legend Karl Duguid, adding extra intrigue to that fixture, while Billericay and Southend have met in the Senior Cup several times of late.

Hashtag United, entering for the first ever time, were paired at home to Witham Town, while holders East Thurrock United meet Concord Rangers away. Waltham Abbey Joint Manager Michael Spencer was the special guest who drew out the home clubs, while BBC Essex’s Nick Alliker was responsible for the away sides. Abbey will travel to Coggeshall Town in the Third Round.
