Young Referee is Toast of Essex!

The award was introduced by the Ilford RA in 1998 in memory of the late Bill Rush, who did much for the development of young referees across the county. Steve has enjoyed an outstanding season, performing with distinction on both the ProKit UK Essex Olympian League and the Ryman Isthmian Under 21s League gaining promotion to Level 4 and being awarded the Essex County FA’s Pelly Under 18s Cup Final in April.

Previous winners include Nick Kinseley, Simon Long, Michael Smith and Wade Norcott, all of whom have picked up the award on their way to the Football League and beyond. More recent award winners Thomas Whay and Robert Claussen have also been showing signs of joining them in due time. Chris Lee, Essex County FA Council Member, said: “Many congratulations to Steve, and good luck in season 2015/16.”
