The FA are looking to appoint a Football Association Supervising Officer (FASO) in the Essex/East London region to supervise the doping control process at any drug-testing ‘mission’ they carry out.
The FA collects over 1,500 samples per season at clubs throughout the pyramid as part of the most comprehensive anti-doping testing programme in the UK. The FASO supervises each drug-testing mission and ensures each test is carried out according to the FA Anti-Doping regulations. This involves announcing the arrival of Doping Control staff at clubs, liaising with relevant club staff and fielding any FA related queries.
FASOs operate on a casual worker basis with The FA and roughly supervise ten drug-testing missions per season (depending on availability). A fee is paid per mission, as are travel expenses. The candidate will ideally have some medical/physio experience, a good knowledge of football, an interest in anti-doping and be prepared to travel.
The majority of drug-testing missions are out-of-competiton (i.e. at training grounds during the week) so the candidate would need to be flexible with their availability. If you are interested in the role please send a CV and a covering letter to firstname.lastname@example.org. All relevant training will be provided to the successful candidate.
