Pre-Requisites for Referee Registrations
Referees who will be officiating under 18s matches or below must have an in-date FA DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) and an FA Safeguarding Children Certificate before registering each season. Theses both last for three years from the date of issue.
On your FA Referees Course, you will have completed an FA Safeguarding Children Certificate. It is our recommendation to those who only referee in open-age football, as an example of best practice, that you retain your safeguarding qualification. This is also valid for three years from the date of issue. We strongly advise all referees to hold both an in-date FA DBS and FA Safeguarding Certificate. For those who need to renew or complete an FA DBS, please see ‘Related Documents’.
