Essex County FA Council Member Roles

Essex County FA have a number of new roles to broaden grassroots football representation on the Essex FA Council

Following a review of the Essex FA Council structure and changes that were approved at the Essex FA AGM in June, we are pleased to confirm that there are a currently a number of new roles that have been created to join the Essex FA Council to better reflect the growing areas of participation across the Essex football pathways.

Essex FA Council Members play an important role in helping to support key aspects of grassroots football administration within Essex, by:

  • Supporting the Discipline process as a member of the FA Regional Discipline Panel (with potential to progress onto the FA National Serious Case Panel)
  • Supporting the Essex FA County Cups through the coordination and appointment of match officials
  • Sitting on Essex FA Working Groups to as required to support football subject matter projects
  • Contributing to Council discussions and all Council Members will hold collective responsibility for ensuring the ECFA Board is constructively challenged, efficient and effective.

There has also been a change in the application process for Council Members. Rather than via nomination, the recruitment of new members to Council will now be application based. This helps to support ensuring the appropriate skills and attributes are recruited onto Council.

Essex FA Chairman, Andy Chaplin said: “The Essex FA Board are pleased to have worked in collaboration with the Essex FA Council to bring forward these opportunities and update the structure of Council to better reflect grassroots football and the growth and transition that has taken place in the game in Essex. This also supports our ongoing journey around aligning with the CFA Code of Governance”

Essex FA CEO, Brendan Walshe said: “Volunteers are vital to the overall health of the game and we are really excited to bring forward increased representation of the Women’s and Girl’s Pathway, as well as new representation for the Futsal Pathway, Walking Football pathway, and Disability Football pathway onto Council. These roles will help contribute to the shaping of grassroots football in Essex and we look forward to welcoming those individuals onto the Essex FA Council”

All Council members will receive a full induction into the role as well as the opportunity to support the development of grassroots football in Essex.
