Billericay Town Womens Walking Football Hold First Tournament

Billericay Town recently held their first ever walking football tournament at the end of January

Billericay Town Walking Football has been making progress with their growth, with the ladies’ section of the club set up last July with help from Just Play, to compliment the men’s section. They started with 8 attendees and are now regularly up to over 20 at their weekly sessions.

The teams that were involved at the tournament were: Cheshunt, Leyton Orient, Billericay, Arsenal, Great Wakering Women’s, Crystal Palace, Clacton Rhinos.

Billy Sedgwick, who leads the Billericay Town Women’s Walking Football sessions was delighted with how the tournament went. “The Tournament was a really enjoyable experience, the Billericay teams included ladies that were returning to a game albeit the slower version after being away for many years as well as ladies where this was their first taste of competitive football”

Walking football can help provide football for people who do not want to commit to or play full 11 a side football and is excellent exercise for all, no matter what your experience or ability.
