BBC Essex Women’s Cup Quarter-Finals Confirmed
Last season’s BBC Essex Women’s Cup Final will be repeated in the 2023/24 Quarter-Finals as holders Billericay Town were paired with Hashtag United Reserves when the draw was broadcast by the competition’s supporters on Friday 22nd December.
The 2023 showpiece was attended by over 2,000 fans, who saw Billericay overcome Hashtag Reserves by a single goal. And the two sides face each other once more following The Tags’ 4-0 victory at Corinthians in the last round. Colchester United FC’s JobServe Community Stadium will host this year’s final for a second time on Thursday 11th April.
At the quarter-final stage, clubs from Tier Five and above enter the competition, namely Billericay Town (First Team), Bowers & Pitsea and Hashtag United (First Team). Two of those clubs were drawn together in the last eight as Hashtag United, from the FA Women’s National League, host Eastern Region Women's League club Bowers & Pitsea.
Meanwhile, Billericay Town Reserves will welcome Southend United Community Sports Club. Billericay defeated Colchester United in the last round, while Southend comfortably advanced past Leigh Ramblers. Chelmsford City won by the odd goal in five against Lawford Ladies at the last stage. Travelling down the A12 to face them this time will be Stanway Pegasus.
Assisting with the draw for the Quarter-Finals this year were Essex County FA Football Development Officer, Eloise Ives, who was responsible for the home clubs, and BBC Essex’s Victoria Polley, who pulled out the away teams. Those ties are due to take place on Sunday 21st January.
