Silent Support Weekend

FA Silent Support Weekend

The first national FA Silent Support Weekend runs on the 5th and 6th November

On Silent Support Weekend, actions speak louder than words.

The Essex FA are supporting the Silent Support Weekend which is aimed at promoting good behaviour on touchlines across grassroots youth football.

So this weekend we’re encouraging spectators and coaches to show their support during the match through applause only.  This will reduce pressure and confusion and give players a better opportunity to find their own voice and develop their game, as well as have fun.

So, all you have to do is not talk, you can applaud good play from both teams, and then tell us your thoughts about the experience so we can feed into a national campaign to make improvements for the future.

The response from youth leagues across Essex has been extremely positive ahead of a Silent Support Weekend taking place on the 5th and 6th of November. Those leagues taking part in this excellent initiative are:

  • Blackwater & Dengie Youth Football League
  • Brentwood Community Football Alliance Youth League
  • Colchester & District Youth League
  • Eastern Junior Alliance
  • Southend and District Junior Sunday Football League
