Nominations Open for #CelebrateEssex ‘Media Manager’
The latest category of our monthly #CelebrateEssex Twitter competition is heralding grassroots football’s ‘Media Managers’, thanking current publicity volunteers and inspiring new candidates to come forward in 2022.
#CelebrateEssex showcases personal stories from local personalities and increases their visibility as role models, encouraging new faces to become volunteers. The @EssexCountyFA account thanks the individuals and groups who make local football tick, highlighting the unpaid efforts of the Essex grassroots game’s true heroes. Nominations are required by Wednesday 12th January.
A final voting stage on Twitter will then identify the latest winner. January is the month of the ‘Media Manager’ category. Modern Media Managers need proficient communication skills and creativity as the public face representing their club, league or organisation.
They provide creative content for websites and social media, whether that be written or audio/video, regularly networking to ensure they can be both reactive and proactive. Especially in the current climate, the distribution of timely and accurate information is particularly crucial, and a proficient Media Manager, Press Officer or marketing lead will play a pivotal role.
Volunteers are the lifeblood of grassroots football, putting in countless hours of their time so others can enjoy playing the game. Football needs more helpers, but it also needs to retain and recognise those already involved. Through this regular Twitter activity, #CelebrateEssex aims to do just that, promoting ten different roles throughout the year.
Future months will feature: February: Coach (Youth and Adult), March: Footie Mum, April: Treasurer, May: Secretary, June: Chairperson. Last season’s Media Manager winners were Lewis Murphy and Aaron Moore from Harlow Town Ladies FC. Lewis reacted: “I love football.”
“It’s been a massive part of my life and to be involved with a club is a fantastic feeling. I get to combine two things I’m passionate about every weekend. For anyone looking to volunteer in the media for a non-league side, it’s a great way to truly improve your skills in a rewarding way. Clubs need the support more than ever, and social media is a fantastic tool to engage a fanbase.”
Stage One: Make Your Nomination on Twitter
If you know a Media Manager who you think should receive some special thanks, anyone can make a nomination by tweeting (by 12th January):
“I nominate [Insert Name and/or Twitter Username] from [Insert Club/Team or Twitter Username] as @EssexCountyFA #CelebrateEssex Media Manager because…”
State why your nominee should be the winner and be as descriptive as you can in 280 characters! It’s important to use the #CelebrateEssex hashtag to ensure your entry is registered.
Stage Two: Nominations Reviewed
Once the window closes, all the nominations received will be collated and a panel will decide which individuals will be progressed to the Twitter poll/vote.
Stage Three: Let Voting Commence!
A Twitter poll/vote will be available at @EssexCountyFA for seven days, featuring profiles of the nominees so voters can make an informed decision on who to vote for.
Stage Four: And Our Winner Is…
The winner of the poll will be contacted to be that month’s ‘Volunteer of the Month’!
