Active Essex are accepting nominations for the annual Essex Activity Awards, which return to celebrate the outstanding achievements of individuals, organisations and groups and those who have inspired and supported the county to find their active.

The county is being encouraged to put forward nominations, whether that be someone who has recently found their active, a group who has gone above and beyond to support participants’ mental wellbeing, or elite level athletes who have succeeded in their sport. The nomination window closes at midnight on Sunday 10th October. There are ten different categories:

* Sports Personality of the Year
* Young Sports Personality of the Year
* Essex Activity Hero
* Strengthening Communities Award
* Active Club of the Year
* Active Education Award
* Active Workplace of the Year
* Active Wellbeing Award
* Find Your Active Participant of the Year
* Find Your Active Ambassador of the Year

Active Essex are delighted to be back to host their annual awards ceremony to recognise and celebrate the extent of achievements throughout Essex, Southend and Thurrock. They plan to build on the momentum from their successful Essex Activity Heroes campaign.

This was launched as a special online celebration last year to commend those who went above and beyond to help the people of Essex during the Covid-19 pandemic by using physical activity and sport as a key driver to keep the county moving and motivated through a difficult year.
