County Schools Opportunities for Talented Girls

Essex Under 16s and 14s Football Trials Coming Up

An opportunity is currently available for applications to trial for the 2021/22 Essex County Schools FA’s Girls Under 14s and 16s representative football squads.

The Under 14s Girls trials will take place on Wednesday 29th September, while the Under 16s Girls have their turn on Thursday 30th September. Both sessions will run from 3:30-6:00pm and the squads cater for school years eight to eleven, as of September 2021.

Girls will play within a number of small-sided games, where coaches will be assessing players’ technical ability, athleticism and attitude. The girls will then be asked to play within some larger games, where coaches will be looking at positioning both on and off the ball and in transition, game understanding, attitude, work rate and technical ability.

The county schools teams don't replace grassroots or Regional Talent Club (RTC) football, as players still play for their regular team. Both age groups will be competing in the South-East England Schools FA League, which usually includes fixtures against Suffolk, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire. The matches ordinarily take place on the second Saturday of the month.
