Lockdown 3for3 Challenge

Essex’s #Lockdown3for3 ‘Helping Others’ Challenge

Local Kids Can Share Their Supportive Ideas

Which activities have local children found most successful to help others during these challenging times? The Essex County FA’s #Lockdown3for3 competition is asking fantastic youngsters to share their stories on social media to inspire others.

Children in Essex are being invited to post one #Lockdown3for3 example each week on Twitter and Facebook over three weeks to inspire others to keep active. There is a different category every seven days, and this week’s final category is ‘Helping Others’ (from Monday 1st March).

Young players can contribute #Lockdown3for3 suggestions in text, audio or video format, to show others how they’ve been supportive during lockdown. In Week 1, youngsters submitted ‘Physical Wellbeing’ ideas and, in Week 2, ‘Mental Wellbeing and Mindfulness’ was the focus. Essex County FA Designated Safeguarding Officer, Helen Hever, is looking forward to watching the ideas come in.

She explained: “I can’t wait to see what the kids of Essex come up with, as there are some really inventive ideas out there! We’ve seen a lot of brilliant examples of local children engaging in a positive way during lockdown to keep themselves mentally active, and we really want to celebrate them. It’s great to share the marvellous stories and talents.”

“Youngsters have been inspiring so many with their efforts to raise money or reach out and help those not so fortunate. You could send a video of your football skills, or an exercise routine you’ve put together. Or you could send a message to other young people on what you did to cope with a difficult situation.”

“It would be great to share and support everyone going through lockdown and not having the normal routine. These are difficult times and that often brings out the very best in people. After the three #Lockdown3for3 categories are complete, we’re planning a compilation of the best tweets, Facebook posts and videos, so get your thinking caps on!”

Tweet your ‘Helping Others’ examples to @EssexCountyFA, interact with ‘EssexFootball’ on Facebook and send in your videos! If you’re tweeting, be sure to include the #Lockdown3for3 hashtag. The best suggestions will ultimately be featured on our website, too!
