The remaining clubs in the BBC Essex Senior Cup all found out who they’ll be paired with in the last 16 after the Fourth Round Draw was broadcast on BBC Essex on Thursday 16th December, with Concord Rangers handed a home tie against Colchester United.
The Beach Boys, winners of the competition for three consecutive seasons from 2013/14, triumphed 2-1 at Dagenham & Redbridge in the Third Round, while The U’s defeated a brave Saffron Walden Town, 6-1, at the JobServe Community Stadium.
Amongst the notable results from Round Three were an excellent win for Basildon United, 3-2 at home to FA Trophy winners, Hornchurch, plus a 3-0 win for Coggeshall Town away at a young Southend United side. Basildon now make the trip to Braintree Town, who won 3-0 in their derby with Witham Town, while Coggeshall were drawn away at East Thurrock United.
Two special guests from BBC Essex helped with the draw, namely Glenn Pennyfather and Nick Alliker, who were responsible for the home and away ties respectively. Pennyfather’s former club Canvey Island, comfortable 5-0 victors away at Holland, now make the short journey to face Billericay Town, single-goal winners against White Ensign.
Elsewhere, Bowers & Pitsea’s reward for netting six at home to Great Wakering Rovers is another home tie, this time against Vanarama National League South club, Chelmsford City. Brentwood Town are pressing for domestic promotion from the Isthmian North, but their next County Cup hurdle will be Tilbury. The Dockers won 3-1 at Hullbridge Sports in Round Three.
If Aveley win their re-scheduled tie against Barking, they will entertain Grays Athletic, who’d be familiar with Parkside as Aveley’s tenants. Athletic are currently sitting in the promotion-chasing pack in the Isthmian North. Hashtag United defeated Romford 1-0 last time out at home and now they’ll face Heybridge Swifts, impressive 4-1 winners at Harlow Town.
Those ties are all due to take place on or before 15th January, and all the BBC Essex Senior Cup information and results you need to know can be found here, by following @EssexCountyFA on Twitter or by searching for ‘EssexFootball’ on Facebook.
