Saturday Premier Cup Quarter-Final Draw Revealed

Holders Buckhurst Hill to Face Gas Recreation

Two-time BBC Essex Saturday Premier Cup champions Buckhurst Hill will meet Colchester-based Gas Recreation in the Quarter-Finals of this season’s competition after the draw was revealed live on air on Wednesday 15th January.

Hill, currently third in the ProKitUK Essex Olympian League Premier Division with games in hand, face a difficult test against Gas, one of the Essex & Suffolk Border League’s most successful clubs. Grays Athletic Reserves, sitting at the top of the Essex Senior League Reserve Division, host Ongar Town, who are fourth in the Olympian Senior One with several games in hand.

In an all-Olympian League Senior Two clash, leaders Leigh Town’s reward for defeating 2017 winners Harold Wood Athletic is a home game against fourth-placed Corinthians, victors against Leigh Ramblers. Chingford Athletic, who beat Rayleigh Town and are top of the Olympian Senior One, await either Barkingside Reserves, Basildon Town or West Bergholt in the last eight.

This competition is for teams at the top level of the Saturday grassroots game outside of senior football. Two guests assisted with the live draw, which was a feature of the Dave Monk Show. Pulling out the home teams was Mark Williams, Manager of Buckhurst Hill, who’ve won the competition for the last two seasons. The aways were drawn by West Bergholt Manager, Gareth Gibson.

These ties are due to take place on Saturday 1st February. Full BBC Essex Saturday Premier Cup details can be found here, on Twitter by following @EssexCountyFA and by searching for ‘EssexFootball’ on Facebook.
