New FA Playmaker Course to Launch This Spring

Free Online Course to Support Active Football Roles

This spring, The FA will launch FA Playmaker supported by BT, a new, free, entry-level football course for volunteers in the grassroots game.

Open to anyone aged 14 or over, it's completely free, all online and requires no previous football experience or qualifications to join. Once signed up, you’ll be introduced to the 'brilliant basics' for making safe, fun and inclusive football happen at a grassroots level. Over five online modules, you’ll discover how to:

* make football 'For All'
* connect with your players
* create fun sessions
* keep football safe
* take your next step

To be among the first to hear when it goes live, interest can be registered to receive E-Mail updates from The FA. Once you’re signed up, learners will automatically be entered into a free prize draw to win one the following prizes:

* signed England shirt
* Playmaker training kit bundle worth up to £250

The FA appreciate learners may not want to take a supporting role and may see themselves as leading activity at a grassroots club, centre, or programme. So, while the modules won't quite make them eligible for leading roles, they’re making the option available to become an FA Lead Playmaker. It's a step on from the modules and involves taking these extra qualifications:

* FA Safeguarding Children Workshop
* FA Introduction to First Aid in Football
* DBS Check (required if intending to lead sessions with under-18s)

Once they've been completed, as FA Lead Playmakers, they will be eligible for lead volunteer roles within FA participation programmes - such as at Wildcats and Just Play - and grassroots clubs.

You can register your interest at www.thefa.com/learning/courses/fa-playmaker to be among the first to hear when it goes live. For details on volunteering in Essex football, browse the menus above, follow @EssexCountyFA on Twitter and search for ‘EssexFootball’ on Facebook.
