BBC Essex Senior Cup Quarter-Final Draw

Two Step Four Sides to Meet in the Last Eight

An all-step four tie between Heybridge Swifts and Tilbury was one of the features when the draw for the Quarter-Finals of the BBC Essex Senior Cup was broadcast tonight (Friday 29th November).

Swifts, finalists in 2016, emerged as 2-0 home winners against Witham Town in the last 16 and they now face a Tilbury side who are also going well in the Isthmian North. The Dockers were comfortable 5-0 victors at Saffron Walden Town. All the remaining clubs know they could be only a few steps away from a prestige county cup final at Colchester United FC later in the season.

The winners of the match between Waltham Abbey and Little Oakley will be rewarded with a home tie against Chelmsford City of the Vanarama National League South. The Clarets were winners in 2017, advancing by the odd goal in five at Billericay Town in the last round.

Hashtag United recorded an 8-1 win at home to Harwich & Parkeston in Round Four, setting-up a meeting with Hornchurch, who registered a 2-0 success away at Rayleigh Town. Brightlingsea Regent, impressive 2-1 winners at home to National League South club, Aveley, will entertain either Canvey Island or Dagenham & Redbridge.

Two guests assisted with the draw. Essex County FA Chair Andy Chaplin drew out the home clubs, while BBC Essex’s Victoria Polley was responsible for the away teams. These Quarter-Final ties are scheduled to take place during the week beginning 16th December.
