Just how popular is female
football in Essex? The answer's easy.... VERY POPULAR! |

|
This season the Essex County
Schools trials saw over 150 girls turn-up while 3 Lions
F.C. coaching clubs to encourage involvement cropped-up
in local primary schools all over the County.
Couple that with the E.C.F.A.'s thriving Female Football
Coaches Association and you'll understand that the only
way is up for the Women's and Girls' game in Essex!
Emma Wake looks after female football in Essex and has a
wealth of experience in playing and coaching on the East
coast of America: "I used to co-ordinate adult
football programmes at an indoor facility in Montclair
as well as coaching both girls and boys and playing for
the New Jersey Wildcats," said the current
Colchester United Ladies Captain.

Meanwhile, the game has grown to such an extent that
Sharon Brownlie has stepped across from her previous
role within the E.C.F.A. to concentrate her efforts on
promoting the female game in Essex's London Boroughs.
Sharon is working alongside Emma in dealing with the
ever-increasing activity relating to women's and girls'
football and will be working solely with the clubs and
schools in the Boroughs of Havering, Newham, Redbridge,
Barking & Dagenham and Waltham Forest.
She added: "We are really looking towards reaching
out to clubs to attend our workshops and events as they
are key to the improvement of opportunities for females
in their areas. Grassroots clubs play such a huge part
in local communities which is why we want as many of
them as possible to join-in and be part of our long-term
plans."
