ECFA INSTALL FRESH REP MANAGERS

Essex Representative football will have two fresh faces in their dugouts next season, with the unveiling of Howard Mackler and Kim Coster as the new Under 18s and Women's managers respectively.

Mackler, the former Great Wakering Rovers, Maldon Town and Hullbridge Sports Youth boss, comes with a wealth of experience in the game having also spent four years with Olympian League side Galleywood as Player-Manager. Coster also has plenty of football under her belt in the shape of a playing spell with Spurs Ladies that began in 1977 before moving on to manage Billericay Ladies as well as being Assistant Coach of the Colchester United Under 16s Girls' Team.

Speaking of the delight at his appointment, Howard beamed: "I'm extremely excited at being chosen. My priority will be to quickly build good relations with club managers in the County and see as many players as possible. Playing for Essex is a highly-prestigious honour so I want to build on the pride factor to help bring us some success."

Hailing from Leigh-on-Sea, Mackler was once the Coach of goal-scoring genius Neil Harris in his time at Maldon. Harris went-on to progress to adult football at the Wallace Binder Ground before moving to Millwall, where he notched nearly one hundred goals before a big move to Nottingham Forest. "This County has some terrific talent to bring through and I want every player, regardless of what team they play for or at what level, to feel they have the opportunity to make the team. We will make a fresh start."

Coster is also keen to begin the Women's Rep Team with a clean slate. The Chelmsford-residing coach may be aspiring towards achieving Level Three status herself, but she would prefer to let her players do the talking on the pitch: "We are fortunate to be able to draw from a pool of talented Essex players so I'm eager to get on with the job as I'm looking forward to that challenge."

The Women's Team may have suffered a difficult season in 2006/07 but recent years have yielded trophies for the County Office Cabinet and Kim wants to concentrate on those prior successes to steer them in the right direction. "Building on previous momentum is important so hopefully we can achieve some welcome victories."
