FOOTBALL COLLEGE NEEDS STUDENTS  !

Ryman League high flyers, Heybridge Swifts, and local Maldon school, Plume, have teamed up to form the brand new Plume Football College which will offer a BTEC in Sport for talented students.

The new initiative will offer students over 16 a chance to continue their academic studies while offering a structured football programme of high quality technical and tactical coaching.

Plume's football scheme will also include fitness, diet, nutrition and competitive games and it's hoped that the course will provide a pathway for students to start a career in the sport industry.

Links will be formed with both professional and semi-professional clubs and Heybridge Swifts Youth Development Manager, Robbie Nihill, commented: "This is an outstanding opportunity for students to gain relevant academic qualifications and receive quality football coaching while being individually mentored."

The course will feature a UEFA A licensed coach and two hours of football sessions will be incorporated into the timetable on a daily basis.

Places will be offered to school leavers who can demonstrate potential and flair for football and who are academically suited to combine studies as part of the programme.

Robbie Nihill explained more: "They need to be excited by the opportunity, be motivated, disciplined and committed to all aspects of the course as we pride ourselves on being a part of the community and developing young talent."

The Plume College and Heybridge Swifts will be making a presentation to interested students and parents at Plume on Monday January 22 at 7.30pm.

Any interested parties are asked to call the Head of PE at Plume, Ruth Clark, on 01621 854681 or e-mail admin@plume.essex.sch.uk.
