| The Sceptre Sunday
Football League club and hosts F.C. Faid were
celebrating ten years of friendship between the
clubs and as well as taking part in a gruelling
eleven matches, the Casuals made time for some
sight-seeing tours and even took part in the first
ever cricket match to be played in the area ! |

| Having visited a wine
cellar and the Bitburger Brewery, the group
travelled to the Nurburgring Formula One racetrack
where the tourists looked over the museum and took
part in some go-karting before watching the Le
Mans series from pit side. They also enjoyed a day
in the historic city of Koblenz. |

However, it was in the main part of the
tour - the football - where the Casuals enjoyed huge
success. Two friendly matches with the host team
resulted in a 1-1 draw and a 3-0 defeat, but during the
hosts' 'festival of football', Kings Field enjoyed
success at both their First and Second Team level.
The First Team enjoyed goalless draws with Blaue Engel
Faid and S.V. Buchel before defeating K.F.Z. Eisfeld,
2-0, while the Seconds beat Eintracht Dortmund, 1-0, and
drew 0-0 with S.G. Cochem to set-up a semi-final meeting
between the two sides, which the First eleven won, 2-0.
With the second-string being defeated by Blaue Engel
Faid on penalties in the third/fourth-place play-off, it
was left to a single goal from Joe Collins to ensure
that the Firsts emerged victorious in the final against
Cochem.
As well as the festival trophy, Kings Field were
presented with a huge gold trophy and commemorative
plaque to celebrate ten years of friendship between F.C.
Faid and Kings Field Casuals. The players also
discovered that their visit was front-page news in the
local newspaper. A huge team picture with the headline
"The Kings Field Casuals in Faid" took-up the
whole page.
During the tour, Ian Stokes and Brian Jeeves both
completed over one hundred tour matches for the Casuals
and Manager Jeeves said on his return: "Once again
the people of Faid have looked after us and shown us
tremendous hospitality. We hope they will be visiting us
in Southend during 2008."
Brian also paid tribute to the local football clubs who
donated various items for the children of Faid: "Southend
United and the Shrimpers Trust, Colchester United,
Leyton Orient and Canvey Island all did us proud with
the donation of shirts, footballs and various souvenirs.
We thank them and wish them all well for the forthcoming
season."
