Pokémon Futsal Cup County Heats

Essex County Winners progress through to Regional finals

Essex County FA saw over 225 boys and girls aged 9-16 participate in our County Heats for the Pokémon Futsal Cup. Competitions for U10’s, U12’s and U14’s for mixed and female only teams and an U16 competition for mixed teams took place over the last two Saturdays in March.

SCORE Centre, Leyton, was the stage for the local county qualifying events held by Essex County FA for the Pokémon Futsal Cup 2022/23 and the futsal didn’t disappoint.

The first event on Saturday 18th March saw the mixed teams at each of the four age categories take to the courts to compete for a place in the Regional Finals in June. There were 33 teams that battled it out and four eventual winners were determined through the round-robin competition. Four different Futsal Clubs that had entered teams progressed through to the Regionals now representing Essex, those winners were

U10 – Genesis Futsal

U12 – Sporting Club Southend

U14 – Ballers FFA

U16 – Braintree Futsal

Team Grassroots Football UK were also in attendance capturing footage and interviews from players, coaches and county staff which made the event more of a spectacle. We thank them for the efforts on the day and look forward to sharing the content soon.

Fast-forward to Saturday 25th March, time for the girls only teams to take the court and showcase their skills! Three competitions took place and after some fantastic display of futsal, the three winners were determined to round off a brilliant two weeks of Futsal competition. The following girls’ teams will be progressing to the Regionals in June representing Essex

U10 – FC Evolution

U12 – Hutton Girls

U14 – Aveley Girls

We would like to wish all of our winners the very best of luck for the Regional Competitions and we hope they enjoy the occasion most of all.

The regional competitions are being held on the weekend of June 3rd & 4th at High Wycombe Leisure Centre.
