The 2022/23 BBC Essex Senior Cup Final between Braintree Town and Concord Rangers is scheduled for Tuesday 21st March. Read our preview of the final.

Tuesday’s BBC Essex Senior Cup Final is a re-match of the 2014 final, with Concord Rangers winning the match 2-1. This season’s final will no doubt be another tight affair, with both teams playing in the Vanarama National League South albeit with slightly different fortunes currently this season.

Braintree Town are currently sitting 4th in the league, with their sights firmly set on a place in the play-offs to fight for promotion. Concord Rangers currently sit in the relegation zone, with games in hand over most of the teams above. The two teams have already met twice this season with Braintree Town the victors in both ties.

Angelo Harrop, Braintree Town boss, is leading a side in the BBC Essex Senior Cup Final for the first time, with Braintree looking to take the trophy home for the first time since 1996. Rob Small is leading a team into the final for the second consecutive season, having managed Bowers & Pitsea at last years final. He will be looking to go one better this time around with Concord, who are three time winners of the Essex Senior Cup, the last in 2017.

A route to the final for Braintree Town has included wins over Maldon & Tiptree, a dramatic late comeback against League 2 side Colchester United and a 1-0 win over rivals Chelmsford City in the semi-final. Concord Rangers’ run has included three penalty shootouts, one at home to Aveley, another against rivals Canvey Island, and the last recently against Hornchurch in the semi-final.
