2022-23 County Cup Final Match Officials Appointed
Local match officials have been allocated to Essex County FA Cup Finals as a reward for their performance and commitment throughout the 2022/23 season.
This season there will be 22 County Cup Finals that will be staged from February to May, from Under 12s all the way to Veteran age groups, including the two show piece occasions, the BBC Essex Senior Cup and BBC Essex Women’s Cup finals. The appointments were confirmed by Referee Development Manager Lukas Wood and Referee Development Officer Matthew Pointer, at the County Cup Final Appointment Evening that was recently held at Chelmsford City, where PGMOL Premier League and FIFA Assistant Referee Constantine Hatzidakis was the guest speaker.
Essex FA Referee Development Manager Lukas Wood again wants to congratulate the match officials who have been appointed to a County Cup Final this season “A huge congratulations to all 88 match officials appointed to a County Cup Final. The appointments of each match official are well deserved and reflect the hard work each individual has done both on and off the field of play. I wish each individual all the best for their County Cup Final and mostly importantly that they enjoy and cherish the moment”
Essex FA Referee Development Officer Matthew Pointer echoed Lukas's sentiment. "All 88 match officials appointed to a County Cup Final thoroughly deserve their appointments due to their high performance levels and commitment throughout the season. A County Cup Final is a special occasion and I wish all the match officials the best of luck, and more importantly to treasure and enjoy the occasion"
We also spoke to two of the chosen match officials to learn what they are most looking forward to about officiating their County Cup Final. Aaron Farmer, who is refereeing the BBC Essex Senior Cup Final, is looking forward to working alongside his friends. “I’m looking forward to working with three of my mates. These are lads that I have worked with many times over the last few years and people that I want to share the pride of this appointment with”
Lily Priest, who is in charge of the U14s Girls Cup Final, is looking forward to refereeing in a stadium, as well as being part of a final. “I am most looking forward to the opportunity of being able to referee in a stadium with other match officials. In addition to this I am looking forward to being a part of the cup final where hopefully both teams will be putting out their best performance.”
