It's with great sadness that we receive the news of the passing of popular Essex County FA Vice-President Len Cordell.

His commitment to football is unquestionably commemorated in his name being given to the Essex Under 13s Cup - The Cordell Cup. It’s testimony to a man who joined the Council of the Essex County FA in 1993 and immediately immersed himself in the world of representative football.

He was secretary for each of the five sides the county operated until his retirement from the role at the end of the 2003/04 season. During that time, Len enjoyed a lengthy spell as Chairman of the Cups & Competitions Committee, calling on the experience he’d also gained on the Barking Youth League and the Southern Counties Competition.

We have shared the deepest sympathies and condolences from all at the Essex County FA and that all of Len’s family, friends, colleagues and loved ones are in our thoughts at this very difficult time. Len was a true ambassador of football and will be sorely missed by all. A further tribute can be found on the Redbridge FC website.
