Clubs Invited to Support World Suicide Prevention Day

Movember Promote ‘Be a Man of More Words’ Campaign

Grassroots football clubs across Essex are being invited to help share information on Movember’s 2020 'Be a Man of More Words' campaign ahead of World Suicide Prevention Day on Thursday 10th September.

Movember has a proud legacy addressing World Suicide Prevention Day, shifting men’s attitudes and behaviours as to their role in suicide prevention. This year is no exception. They hope the real stories featured in their campaign will inspire men to connect before things reach a crisis point - whether they’re concerned about themselves or someone else.

Globally, one man dies from suicide every minute. That’s over half a million fathers, partners, brothers and friends each year. It’s one of the biggest public health challenges of modern times. It’s not always easy to reach out when things get tough, but meaningful conversations early on can reduce the risk of suicide.

By sharing 'Be a Man of More Words' social media content with the community, and bringing it into as many people’s lives as possible, clubs can help to create a world where more men feel better supported and connected to those around them - a world where having a meaningful ‘life chat’ with friends is a comfortable norm, not an awkward rarity.
