Saturday Premier Cup Semi-Final Draw Aired Live

BBC Essex Broadcast Final-Four Pairings

Five glory-hunting clubs now have a clearer view of the BBC Essex Saturday Premier Cup Final after the draw for the Semi-Finals was broadcast live from the radio station’s Chelmsford studios on Wednesday 5th February.

This competition is for clubs at the top level of the Saturday grassroots game outside of senior football, and currently there are sides left from the ProKitUK Essex Olympian League and the Essex Senior League Reserve Division. All the remaining teams have ambitions of reaching this year’s showpiece occasion on Wednesday 8th April at Billericay Town FC.

Buckhurst Hill, looking to lift the Saturday Premier Cup silverware for a third year in a row, beat Gas Recreation 6-1 at home in the last round to book a home semi-final against Chingford Athletic, the Olympian Division One leaders who won on penalties against West Bergholt.

One Quarter-Final still has to be settled as Grays Athletic Reserves and Ongar Town catch-up on their last-eight clash very soon, and the winners now know they’ll travel to Leigh Town, 2-0 home victors against Corinthians and Olympian Division Two leaders.

There were two special guests to assist with the draw. While his team were gathered round a speaker at their club base to see who they’d be paired with, Leigh Town Secretary Simon Thorosian pulled out the home teams, while BBC Essex’s Ian Puckey was responsible for the away sides.

Those ties are due to take place on Saturday 7th March, and all the competition details you need to know can be found in the 'Cups & Competitions' menu above, through the @EssexCountyFA Twitter account and by searching for ‘EssexFootball’ on Facebook.
