Hashtag United’s first ever involvement in the BBC Essex Senior Cup sees them travel to Halstead Town or Lopes Tavares London after the draws for the Preliminary, First and Second Rounds were broadcast from the station’s Chelmsford studios on 31st July.

The Tilbury-based club, who were formed in 2016, were handed an away tie as the early stages of the County Cup were revealed on the Wednesday Sport Show.  27 of Essex’s Step Five and Six clubs from the Essex Senior and Eastern Counties Leagues were involved in the live draws and the winners of their First Round clash will host Frenford or Leyton Athletic or Barkingside.

54 sides are taking part in the Senior Cup in 2019/20, including Southend United and Colchester United. East Thurrock United are the current holders, and they joined the rest of the Football League, National League and Isthmian League teams in a group exempt until Round Three.

Victoria Polley from BBC Essex drew the home teams for the Preliminary and First Round Draws, while Witham Town’s Marc Benterman was responsible for the away sides. The first of these determined that Barkingside and Benfleet received a bye to the First Round.

Every Essex club from Steps Five and Six was involved in the Second Round draw in some way. This time Kieron Shelley, Manager of Harwich & Parkeston, drew the home teams, while Assistant Manager Michael Wallace was responsible for the away sides.
