Worms Seek County Success on Two Fronts

    •

Wormingford Wanderers have their eye on a County Cup double following the semi-final draws for the Essex Saturday Junior Cup and Essex Sunday Junior Trophy.

Wormingford’s Saturday side are handily placed in sixth in the Andreas Carter Essex & Suffolk Border League Division One and, if they can see off last season’s Saturday Junior Trophy winners Flitch United in a rearranged quarter-final tie, they will take on Old Chelmsfordians Reserves in the last four.

The other Saturday Junior Cup Semi-Final is also yet to be decided as Railway Academicals and May & Baker Eastbrook Community Reserves try again to progress from the Quarters this weekend. The winners of that clash will be at home to Tiptree Heath on 11th March in a bid to reach the final at Bowers & Pitsea FC’s Len Salmon Stadium.

Meanwhile, in the Sunday Junior Trophy, Wormingford Wanderers were 7-5 extra time victors over Eastleigh Wanderers last weekend, setting up a Semi-Final encounter away to A & A United on 5th March. The Harlow & District Sunday League outfit were 3-1 winners against Pitsea Athletic in the Quarter-Finals.

Leigh United Reserves progressed to the last four with a penalty shootout triumph at Marquis after a pulsating 3-3 draw (pictured above), and they will be confident of obtaining a spot in a locally-based final at Canvey Island FC’s Frost Financial Stadium after being given a home tie against Barking & Dagenham Wanderers.
