Website of the Year Winners Named

Volunteers from Dunmow Rhodes YFC and the Colchester & District Sunday League will enjoy VIP treatment at Wembley Stadium for the FA Community Shield match on Sunday 11th August after their online presences were recognised to win Essex’s respective 2013 Club and League ‘Website of the Year’ Awards.

They’ll receive pairs of tickets to the traditional curtain-raiser to the English football season, plus a pre-match meal nearby, as Premier League champions Manchester United take on FA Cup winners Wigan Athletic. Ricky Valks and Steve Catley will join a group of lucky people, including Volunteer of the Year victors, in prime positions to enjoy the action.

FA Charter Standard Club Dunmow provide football for a massive 19 youth teams from their Causeway Recreation Ground base, with the majority of their sides playing in the Blackwater & Dengie Youth League. Their website is maintained predominantly by Chairman/Treasurer Valks, while the five-division Colchester & District Sunday League mainly have Chairman and IT Officer Catley to thank for their accolade.

Essex County FA Press & Publicity Officer, Chris Evans, praised the winners, stating: “Dunmow Rhodes YFC’s website is easy to navigate and very informative about the club’s activities, plus there is plenty of interesting content for both parents and the players themselves. The video on the home page is excellent and it really displays the club’s ethos for encouraging children to be the best they can be whilst having fun at the same time.”

“The Colchester & District Sunday League have been winners of this award before and they haven’t let their standards slip! As with any good website it’s simple to browse and all the statistics and details you’d expect from a league website - like fixtures, results and tables - are neatly presented. The archive and photo gallery features are particular strengths. Congratulations to both of these websites for positively promoting grassroots communications.”
