Eton Manor confirmed their place in the
Fourth Round of the FansFocus.Com Essex Senior Cup as the only side
to have competed in each stage, thanks to a comfortable 3-0 win at
Wivenhoe Town.
Goals from the two Bradleys, Walsh and Nelson, as well as Anton
Stephenson sealed the win for Essex Senior League Manor against a
side struggling in the Ryman League Division One North.
It was the visiting Braves who dominated proceedings from the off
and the first chances saw Nelson volley over the bar after a chipped
ball from Stephenson and Junior Kunadi shot low into the hands of
Town 'stopper Nick Wilson from twenty yards.
Wivenhoe's Ian McManus did fire just wide from the edge of the area
on 20 minutes, but Manor soon replied with efforts from Nelson and
Walsh. Eton Manor grabbed the lead on 29 minutes, Walsh's right-wing
corner going straight into the far corner of the net via the post.
The next opportunity arrived after the break when a fine through
ball by Chris Barrett found Stephenson who cut into the box a drove
a shot inches off-target. But the advantage was doubled on the hour,
Chris Barrett's swinging cross headed home by Nelson from ten yards.
Barrett could have then scored again, shooting straight at Wilson
after surging through on goal, and subsequently Neil Barrett saw his
ambitious thirty-yard shot test Wilson. However, the scoring was
completed in the 83rd minute from the spot. Stephenson was tripped
in the box following a good centre by Walsh and the front-man
himself converted from twelve yards, sending Wilson the wrong way.
