HEYBRIDGE SWIFTS   6 - 0   GT WAKERING ROVERS

Its eleven goals without reply in two FansFocus.Com Essex Senior Cup ties for Heybridge Swifts as last season's finalists Great Wakering Rovers were comprehensively beaten 6-0 in Round Four at Scraley Road.

Swifts scored all of their goals in the first half during their 5-0 rout at Canvey Island at the last stage and they were at it again as they hit four past Wakering in the opening 45 minutes this time around.

The scoring was opened as early as the 4th minute when Matthew Batt bundled home Gary Burrell's right-wing corner from close range. Moments later, Mark Reddaway's header from Burrell's cross brought a fine save out of visiting 'keeper Louis Green before two of Wakering's best opportunities saw Steve Butterworth shoot low into the gloves of Ollie Morris-Sanders before the home custodian also held onto James White's firm header.

However, the game was effectively put beyond Wakering's reach thanks to two quick-fire goals in the 22nd minute. Adam Passfield doubled the lead when he prodded Daryl Bourgeois' header past Green and, seconds later, Reddaway hit a half-volley into the top corner via the post.

The home side had further chances as Bourgeois nodded a Danny Barber corner over the top and Green made a great double-save to keep out Passfield's fierce low drive then Batt's rebound. The fourth goal arrived on 40 minutes, Burrell picking-up a loose ball on the right side of the penalty area before cutting in and hitting a thumping shot inside the near post.

Wakering could have pulled a goal back before the interval but a fine save saw Morris-Sanders acrobatically tip Keith Wilson's twenty-yard free kick over bar.

The first opportunity of the second period arrived as Burrell's fierce drive dropped inches over the top then substitute Neil Cousins' header was blocked on the goal-line. The impressive Passfield hit a shot just too high after a strong run across the box before his swinging cross saw Stafford Browne, also on from the bench, flick a header wide at the near post.

Browne added the fifth on 77 minutes turning home Robbie King's low centre at the far post after Wakering had failed to clear the danger and the scoring was completed ten minutes from time as a fine move resulted in skipper Adam Gillespie sliding home Burrell's neat pass from fifteen yards.
