DAGENHAM & REDBRIDGE   3 - 0   BRENTWOOD TOWN

Two spectacular strikes from Dagenham & Redbridge's Sam Sloma set his side en route to a place in the quarter-finals of the FansFocus.Com Essex Senior Cup thanks to 3-0 win over Brentwood Town.

It was an entertaining affair despite the incessant rain at Victoria Road and Ryman League Division One North high-flyers Brentwood more than matched their Football League hosts at times.

Dagenham created the first opening of the evening on 3 minutes, Dominic Green slipping a shot into the side netting from a tight angle. Brentwood then had an ideal chance to take the lead when a fantastic through ball by Leon Diacuzk played Sean Thomas clean through, but the front man's disappointing shot was easily stopped by Daggers 'keeper Dave Hogan.

As the visitor's looked to break the deadlock, Gareth Street's fierce shot was held by Hogan and Thomas broke through again before shooting inches wide of the post. The home side soon began to threaten themselves and Sloma made a strong run across the box before hitting a deflected shot which was pushed away by Town goalkeeper Marc Palmer.

Jon Nurse had an effort cleared off the line from a Green corner while Tommy Tejan-Sie and an acrobatic Jamie Taylor pulled stops out of Palmer before Sloma put Dagenham in front in the 34th minute. Another Green corner was only cleared as far as Sloma who hit a twenty-yard rocket into the top corner.

Brentwood 'stopper Palmer made an outstanding double save to keep his side in with a shout just before the break, denying firstly Nurse and then Green, both from point-blank range. Nine minutes after the interval another Sloma stunner doubled Dagenham's lead, this time the playmaker smashing a thirty-yard shot into the roof of the net, giving Palmer no chance.

Brentwood continued to plug away, however, and Thomas came close from a Joao Carlos corner, back-heeling just wide at the far post and substitute Carlos himself hit a shot across the face of goal after a fine run.

The scoring was completed on 83 minutes as Dagenham grabbed their third. A well-worked move saw Kraig Rochester stab home from close range after Nurse had knocked back a low Anthony Cooke cross.
