Each season around 1,500 clubs affiliate to the Essex County FA, comprising of more than 4,000 teams. For the first time, these clubs now possess a dedicated section on the Association’s website.

Essex categorises clubs into six different statuses: Senior (which encompasses clubs from the FA Premier League, the Football League, the National League, the Isthmian League, the Essex Senior League and the Eastern Counties League), Step 7 (clubs in the top division of the Essex Olympian League and the Essex & Suffolk Border League), Junior (all other adult football, including under 19s, under 21s and veterans), Youth (from under 7s up to under 18s), Women's and Girls'.

We’re here every step of the way for our clubs, beginning with affiliation, where we offer guidance on suitable club names, on how you should structure meetings, about opening bank or building society accounts, regarding joining a league, about fundraising and in identifying a pitch. And if that doesn’t satisfy your needs, then feel free to put a call in to our Governance Team for additional information.

Once established, clubs may wish to attain the FA Charter Standard. Designed in 2001, the initiative was launched with the promise of improving grassroots football and aims to make a difference in local communities around the country. The programme recognises good practice within a club.

Whatever your level, we offer assistance in learning about the laws of the game, whilst the various rules and regulations will be updated as they are amended. We provide access to the Whole Game System so you can check on the disciplinary status of your squad and, if you need to advertise for new players, why not use our Squad Booster service?
