Players, coaches and the grassroots football workforce throughout Essex can yet again have their say on the future of the game locally by taking part in The Football Association’s new online survey, with the opportunity to win exciting signed England merchandise and tickets for matches at Wembley Stadium just for taking part before Sunday 14th February.

For the third consecutive year, grassroots stakeholders are being targeted to voice opinions on subjects such as The FA’s work at a local level and how to implement the highly-publicised Respect programme. The Essex County Football Association believes the National Game Strategy for 2008-12 is bearing fruit and that grassroots football is in increasingly good shape. But the gauntlet has now been laid down to see if the footballing public believes the Association is getting things right. The view that counts is yours!

‘Tell Us What You Think’ aims to get everyone involved, including players aged over eleven, coaches, referees and volunteers. The FA launched its Strategy in 2008, setting out the vision for developing grassroots football in England through a £200m FA investment over four seasons. Football is delivered locally through 51 County FAs and they are working with The FA to deliver the Strategy. The objectives of this survey are to gain feedback on the state of football after its second year and to provide The FA and County FAs with information to direct both strategic decisions and their day-to-day activities.

Chief Executive, Phil Sammons, commented: “Our football workforce has already helped shape The FA’s National Game Strategy, which resulted in a four-year investment worth £200m across the Country from The FA. Once again, we’re listening for the voice of local football people to tell us how we’re doing and what still needs to be done to keep the grassroots game heading in a positive direction. The National Game Strategy has seen increased participation in many areas, particularly refereeing and coaching and it is crucial that stakeholders take part in the survey to ensure that we as a County FA go from strength-to-strength, providing quality football opportunities for all.”

The survey can be accessed on the right or via www.thefa.com/surveys/TakeSurvey.aspx?SurveyID=7lLM3pm, while hard copies are also available by contacting (01245) 393085. It takes just ten minutes to have your say, and this year we are offering some tempting incentives to get involved, including a signed England shirt or tickets to a forthcoming England match at Wembley Stadium. The deadline for responses is 14th February.
