Essex is benefiting from the commencement of an exciting new FA Tesco Skills Coach Programme aimed at raising the technical standards of football amongst 5-11 year olds, led by ex-Tottenham Hotspur Youth coach, Matthew Joseph.
The FA Director of Football Development, Sir Trevor Brooking, and his team at The FA are running a programme giving local children from Essex qualified football skills coaching. The Programme is a three-year initiative co-ordinated by The FA and funded by Tesco and the National Sports Foundation, aiming to give one million children in England top-quality guidance by the summer of 2010.
Throughout England, a total of 66 full-time, specialist Skills Coaches are focussing on improving techniques amongst their target age group, when ball skills are ingrained, throughout twelve counties in England. Essex is one of the lucky locations to become involved and their coaches are all fully-qualified with The FA, having just completed an age-appropriate skills coaching course.
The Skills Coaches deliver FA Skills Centres in the local area, where they are training boys and girls using world-leading coaching techniques so young players can be inspired to get active and maximise their football skills, whatever their ability.

Tesco already runs a voucher collection scheme ‘Sport for Schools and Clubs’ where they have given £20m of sports equipment to schools and this agreement takes their commitment to sport and healthy living forward. Booking Procedure
To book your place at one of the featured centres, you must complete the Booking Form prior to the course commencing. All bookings are taken on a first come, first served basis and places are limited, so please book early to avoid disappointment.
Payments
Payments must be paid for the entire block. These can be made in the form of cheques made payable to the ‘Essex County FA’.
Confirmation
On receipt of your Booking Form, we will confirm your place on the course and provide you with further information of what to bring etc.
Cancellations/Refunds
Refunds will not be given in the event that you are unable to attend any part of the course. Payments can be transferred to another course if, due to injury or illness, you are unable to attend 50% of the course dates.
