FA Level 3 Youth Award Module 1 - ‘Developing the Environment’
Course Duration: 4 Days, Minimum Age: 16
Module 1 is the first of three modules and is part of a wider qualification.
Module 2 - Developing the Practice - 24 hours over 3 days.
Module 3 - Developing the Player - 24 hours over 3 days.
1 + 2 + 3 = FA Youth Award - Overview of Youth Development 5-20 (this is the equivalent to the FA Level 3 Course)
This module is a 32-hour, non-assessed course aimed at coaches at all levels who wish to extend their knowledge of coaching the 5-11-year-old player. The course will provide practical sessions and advice for coaching this age group and will increase the candidate’s knowledge of how to develop their coaching to incorporate The FA’s ‘4-Corner’ Model.
The course covers technical development and, in the physical corner, it will offer FUNdamental ideas for the coach to use as well as suggested activities for the development of football-specific movements. The important social and psychological development of the young player is also examined.
Who Is The Course Intended For? This is aimed at qualified coaches and teachers who have attended the 1st4Sport Level 1 Coaching Certificate and wish to extend their knowledge and experience in coaching 5-11-year-old children.
Course Format (32 Hours, Non-Assessed)

- How Players Learn
- Managing Mistakes
- Self-Esteem
- Motivation
This module includes pre-course reading and self-test questions for the ‘physical’ aspects of the course. Also included are practical activities and games as well as ‘Managing Difference’ pre-course reading. There is also a chance to try the games out under the watchful eye of your tutor. Successful completion will be awarded after attendance at the 32-hour tutored course, achievement of the pre-course and on-course tasks in the portfolio and active participation in the delivery of a practical game.
