Change to Coaching Course Prices 2010: In previous years, Essex County FA courses have been delivered in partnership with the College of West Anglia, who were able to provide direct funding that enabled us to administer our courses and offer subsidised fees.

Unfortunately, Government priorities have changed and the funding streams that were accessible through Colleges are now no longer available. A combination of this and the continued rise in the cost of facility hire and resources has meant you may have noticed a slight necessary increase to the price of the Level 1 Coaching course.

We're aware this is a second rise in a short spell and this isn't a step we’ve taken lightly as we recognise volunteers are asked to give-up valuable time to take these courses and it’s vital we keep costs down. For a number of years, the ECFA has provided value for money and we'll continue to provide high standards in our delivery. Naturally we will work closely with our partners to keep fees as low as possible.

If you're looking to access courses, there are funding opportunities still available to you. Many local authorities offer bursaries for coaches so contact your Council’s Sports Development Team. Both Sportessex (www.sportessex.com) and Pro-Active East London (www.pro-activeeastlondon.org) also regularly offer bursaries.

Clubs developing new teams might opt for a Football Foundation ‘Grow the Game’ application (www.footballfoundation.org.uk). Through this scheme you could get assistance to cover setup costs and associated expenses related to training new volunteers.
