Coaches' Association (Female)

The Female Coaches' Association has been in existence for a number of years and adopts the FA Coaches Association’s ethos to positively affect the attitudes, ethics, knowledge and performance of coaches.

The Association differs from the male equivalent as is geared towards those solely working within the female game, all the sessions and workshops being delivered with that in mind. Coaching females can be different to coaching males and it is important to make sure we provide the necessary tools in order to do so.

We want to support these coaches so, in time, the quality of the players increases as well as their overall enjoyment of the game. Both male and female coaches working within the female game are still encouraged to join and Association, however, and there is also membership from teachers working with females in schools.

The groupusually interacts with members on a quarterly basis and aims to bring together like-minded people who share a passion for developing female players. Members get the opportunity to see sessions and workshops being delivered by FA National Coaching managers which they wouldn’t get anywhere else unless they travelled to a regional or national FA Coaches’ Association event.

Members have previously been lucky enough to welcome special guests such as John Allpress, Paul Holder, Julie Chipchase and Peter Trevivian who are all FA National Managers. Kay Cossington (England U19s Coach) has also delivered a session.

There are no pre-requisites to join, although an FA qualification is desirable and members need to be aged over 16. It doesn’t matter if coaches are the most proficient in the County or if they have very limited experience. A newsletter is in the pipeline and the Association attempts to stage three or four coaching events a year.
